Polled Boran Photo Gallery

"UMVUBU" This must be the best Polled Bull in the country and his calves are proof that he is worth every bit of his R130 000.

KPO 694 - Father to Umvubu.  Well muscled bull with lots of capacity.

"KNIGHT"- Proving his worth.  Never had anything but natural veld but maintaining his condition perfectly, serving the cows and heifers given to him.  This Naturally Polled Bull has a promising future in the Boran breed and his first crop of calves has proved it.

CC 8017 "BEAST" the star of the future.  Keep a look out for this promising Polled Bull. Weaned 65% of mothers weight 6.5 months.

For six months of the year our Polled Borans will have mainly reeds to eat.

At the end of summer our cattle shift from the reeds to rugged mountainous veld where they spend most of the winter as can be seen by this young pregnant appendix B heiffer.

Our bulls get no special treatment through the winter, they have to make due with what there is.

Three year old heifer with her second calf.  This is what we are striving for.

With quality polled appendix animals such as this young Appendix A cows we are looking forward to a bright future.

Umvubu's progeny continues to amaze us.  Six month old calf from a two year old Umvubu heifer.

Knite surely suprised us.  This is a appendix B out of a Nguni x Boran and is totally polled and red 3 month old calf.  Knite is really going to make a big impact.

Keep a look out for this young 18 month old bull "COMMANDER"

Typical of the quality of our 18 month old mated heifers.

The Polled factor will save you time and expense with more docile animals free of injuries,  with all the qualities we are looking for, masculinity average size, excellent coat, perfect balance between length depth and muscling.

Umvubu's calves has excellent sheaths and depth of body.  As can be seen on this Appendix C Bull.

Our Polled Borans have proved themselves, like this 1 year old heifer, maintaining her condition in the winter on arid veld.

The thick dense coat of a Boran Calf during winter protects against the cold and excellent pigment for protection from our harsh summer sun.

Our Boran cows are selected for femininity, mothering ability and fertility.

Polled calves with a bright future ahead of them on natural veld at La Rochelle.

This is only an Appendix B. Thanks to the impact of UMVUBU in our stud, we foresee a exciting future.

We select for cow efficiency.  Her first calf was reared at 60% at six and a half months.

First Calving- 29months, Inter Calving Period- 339days of 3 calvings, Age- 4 and a half years.

This is just one of the results of mating quality SP Bulls to quality Appendix B females.  Doing so will not only broaden our genetic base but will also improve quality.

In our search for a smaller more compact type of bull, we came across this bull HVT 03-019.  The bull has sound legs and very good capacity.  The owner of the bull is Mr. Hennie Dercksen of  HMD BORAN who has agreed to sell us some semen. To Mr. Dercksen we say thank you and we are looking forward to his first calves in 2011.

The Boran offers such pre-potency that there is almost no difference between the SP heifer on the right and the Appendix B on the left.

With the use of indigenous breeds for our up breeding, the tick resistance is visibly much stronger than in our other appendix A animals.
